Good mystery that keeps you guessing. Love these books! Keep them coming “Robert”!
I have just read all 4 Galbraith novels across a 2 week span, so this review has the immediate perspective of them all. This book, as others have noted, was longer and more complex than the previous Galbraith books. In some ways that worked really well, such as to develop the main characters a bit more fully and to have a more complex mystery. However, the many twists and multitude of characters at times felt a bit like a drag on the plot. That said, I still found it an engaging read. Having read through the other reviews I was expecting more sex and a romantic turn (Do Strike and Robin finally...?) but that is a misrepresentation. There are interesting plot developments in terms of the connection between the hero and heroine, but this is not a romance.
Love the C.B Strike novels! They are intriguing, exciting, exceptional stories! The main characters, Strike & Robin, capture your heart & soul. This fourth was is my favorite!
This book, unlike her 3 others in this series, was so boring. Way too long. Too many characters.
Outstanding book I enjoyed reading over the past few days!! It’s my favorite of the series, so I’m glad I didn’t let a few mediocre reviews deter me! I can’t wait for the next book in this series!!

I love this series and this book is as well written as the others. Not sure what another reviewer meant by “ripped bodice romance”, that’s not what this is. One thing that bothers me, although not about the book itself, but why have faces been leant to the covers? Way to ruin the Robin and Strike in my mind’s eye. I mean, the Strike from the covers is not even close to the boxer’s-profile, pubed-hair description from the book. Otherwise, loved this and can’t wait for the next one in the series.
Can’t wait for the next installment!
Read first three Strike novels and liked them but was very let down by this one....too much bodice ripping romance (snore) and a goofy plot (some serious class bashing). Save your money.
The only thing I can criticize about this book is that I now must wait for the next one. The writing is superb. The plot is really gripping and makes you think. Shanna1957
Drags a LOT. Meandering, boring for chapter after chapter at times. I enjoyed the previous Strike books, but if this had been the first one I read, it would have been the only one I read.
